Lead Carpenter

Location: Amherst, OH (serving Huron, Vermilion, Wakeman, Westlake)

Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

- Project Management and Supervision: Oversee all aspects of construction projects from assignment to completion, ensuring adherence to plans and specifications. This involves direct supervision of all carpentry and construction tasks, ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Lead and coordinate a team of carpenters and subcontractors, ensuring timely completion of projects. 

- Hands-on Carpentry Work: Perform skilled carpentry work, including framing, finishing, and custom woodwork. This will involve both leading by example and actively participating in the construction tasks ensuring high-quality workmanship in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

- Team Leadership and Training: Manage and lead a team of staff and subcontractors. Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to less experienced team members, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth. Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, conduct safety talks, daily huddles and maintain team discipline and morale.

- Client Interaction: Serve as a key point of contact for clients on renovation projects. Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs, provide updates, and ensure customer satisfaction, maintaining clear and consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.

- Quality Control: Ensure all work complies with relevant codes. Conduct regular quality checks and. Regularly inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with building codes. 

- Safety Compliance: Ensure all work complies with safety standards. Enforce safety protocols among the team. Regularly inspect construction sites to ensure compliance safety regulations.

- Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any construction or design issues swiftly, ensuring project timelines are met. Problem-solve construction challenges and provide innovative solutions.

- Commitment to safety: Achieve and maintain goal of no lost time accidents or serious injuries.

Qualifications and Skills

- Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in carpentry, specifically in residential renovation and remodeling.

- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively. Experience in training and mentoring junior carpenters or workers.

- Technical Skills: Proficiency in various carpentry techniques and tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and architectural drawings. Ability to read and interpret the Building Code.

- Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities for dealing with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.

- Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills to address construction challenges and client concerns swiftly and effectively.

- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, ensuring timely completion of all work.

- Continuous Education: Familiarity with the latest construction tools, practices, and safety protocols.

- Drivers License: Full G class drivers license with a minimum 3 year clean record

Carpenter
